Looking for Alaska is a must read. I thoroughly enjoyed every page. I must admit, this book made me laugh and cry (don't say I didn't warn you). I never wanted to put the book down once I read the first page. This is surely one of those books that leaves you constantly thinking about the characters and plot line days after completion. There are so many elements that will appeal to a multitude of readers, so regardless of what genre you enjoy most, I strongly suggest you give this book a chance. John Green does a wonderful job at developing the vibrant characters in this book. I was able to picture and truly feel as if the characters were real. Days after I finished this book, I continued to ponder the mysterious ways of Miss Alaska. She is one heck of a character and I highly suggest that you become acquainted with her through this book. | |
Here are a few of my favorite quotes:
“At some point, you just pull off the Band-Aid, and it hurts, but then it's over and you're relieved.”
― John Green, Looking for Alaska
“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.”
― John Green, Looking for Alaska
"You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.”
― John Green, Looking for Alaska
“So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane.”
― John Green, Looking for Alaska
